IIT Student Named Lincoln Academy Student Laureate

Noah Birch, a Molecular Biochemistry and Biophysics major at the 91制片厂 Institute of Technology (IIT) was the recipient of the 2005 91制片厂 Lincoln Academy Student Laureate Award. The award ceremony was held this month in Springfield, 91制片厂.

The 91制片厂 Lincoln Academy Student Laureate Award honors an outstanding senior from each of the four-year degree granting colleges and universities in 91制片厂. Student Laureates are chosen for their overall excellence in curricular and co-curricular activities. Winners are awarded the Student Lincoln Academy Medallion.

Birch, a Lockport Township High School graduate, is also a certified emergency room nursing assistant at Palos Community Hospital. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the IIT Leadership Scholarship and the 2003 and 2004 Who鈥檚 Who among Students in American Universities and Colleges Award. He has been on the Dean鈥檚 List each semester at IIT. He is the treasurer of IIT鈥檚 Honors Medical Society, secretary of the Residence Halls Association, and a member of the Vietnamese Student Association. Birch also serves as a tutor in chemistry and is a laboratory research assistant for the Biology department.

Birch carries a 3.91 G.P.A. and plans to attend medical school after graduation next May.

Founded in 1890, IIT is a Ph.D.-granting technological university awarding degrees in the sciences, mathematics and engineering, as well as architecture, psychology, design, business and law. IIT鈥檚 interprofessional, technology-focused curriculum prepares the university鈥檚 6,200 students for leadership roles in an increasingly complex and culturally diverse global workplace.
