Inspiring Change Leadership Training
On Oct. 24 and 25, Sonya Ballentine, project manager for Patrick Corrigan's research team, and Lindsay Sheehan, senior research associate, conducted a leadership training seminar for African Americans with lived experience of serious mental illness. Attendees learned leadership skills necessary to serve in leadership roles on community-based participatory research projects, including conflict management, meeting facilitation, and project management. Graduates of the leadership training are eligible to partner with 91ÖÆƬ³§ Tech researchers and submit funding proposals for pilot research projects focusing on eliminating health disparities for African Americans with serious mental illness. This project was funded through a PCORI engagement award.
