What is Respondus LockDown Browser?
LockDown Browser is a locked browser for taking quizzes on Canvas. It prevents students from printing, copying, going to another URL, or accessing other applications during an assessment. If a Canvas quiz requires that LockDown Browser be used, students will not be able to take the quiz with a standard web browser.
LockDown Browser can only be used for taking Canvas quizzes. It cannot be used for other areas of Canvas. It is not available on Chromebooks, but local students may borrow a laptop from the Galvin Library.
It is recommended to share this information with students before the quiz, and consider offering a practice quiz in advance so that students can download and test the software before the assessment.
